Those with pancreatic enzyme insufficiency are typically prescribed Creon 36K
(36,000 USP Lypase). The Vital Nutrients product is 35,500 Lypase USP--and
a fraction of the cost of the brand name drug. I've tried them both and they work the same for me. Of course, it's entirely up to you and your gastroenterologist.

Pancreatic Enzymes for EPI

For those suffering with endocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI or PEI) there are few substitutes for the prescription Creon--which is very expensive. Vital Nutrients Pancreatic Enzymes are probably the closest to the ingredients in Creon that can be purchased OTC (over the counter)--with a doctor's consent of course. Also, the ingredients are listed in USP units--the same as Creon. Many of the OTC products are listed in FCC (Federal Chemical Codex) units--which are difficult or impossible to convert to USP. You really can't tell what you are getting. A great product and highly recommended.
