Virtual sessions with an NTP are comprehensive and collaborative. You can expect your first session to last 60 minutes where your practitioner will ask some clarifying questions about your already-submitted paperwork. They’ll get specific about the details of your food journal, your health history, and most importantly, get clear on your health concerns and goals. With this information in mind, your NTP will make personalized nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations – enough that you can make some progress toward your goals, but not so many that you’ll feel overwhelmed.

Follow-up appointments will last 45 minutes and are designed as a check-in. You might answer questions like – what’s going well for you? What changes have you noticed? What challenges are you facing? Have your health goals changed? Based on your responses, your practitioner will update your recommendations, adjusting them based on your current concerns and progress.

You can expect a supportive cheerleader, an accountability partner, and a listening ear in all of our sessions.

If you are already logged in as a member, you can book from our Practice page. You can also book a session here.

You can share your Essential membership with members of your household. If you have a Practitioner Starter or Cornerstones of Wellness membership we ask that only one member use the sessions with our staff NTPs. Our Essential Curations are targeted to support specific health challenges but do so through a very foundational approach. They work to balance your nutritional needs and help the body reach balance or homeostasis. But they are still not specifically made for you. None of the products will be detrimental, but you may find that you only respond to certain products in the curation. Or find them helpful short term and then need a more individualized approach. This is normal. Our bodies are constantly changing and that means our needs change too.

Some of our Essential Curations are intended to be used long term, like the Active Curations. Others like the Inflammation Curation or the Digestive Restore Curation are more likely needed on a short term basis. While the curations are targeted, they are still not designed just for you. Our bodies are constantly changing and that means our needs change too. Working with one of our Curated Wellness practitioners can help you design a plan that fits your personal needs best. In some cases, continuing with the Essential Curation and adding targeted dietary and lifestyle modifications may be just the layer you need. In other cases, continuing with one or more of the supplements in the curation may be the answer combined with other lifestyle modifications and/or supplemental additions.

While we offer a wide selection of high quality supplements to support many different client needs, we cannot guarantee that those you self select will actually meet your needs. So, when you meet with one of our practitioners, we can reassess anything you selected yourself and determine if it’s something you continue to benefit from taking.

At Curated, we take a more sustainable approach to weight management. Our practitioners focus on the foundational origin of the imbalance—most often some sort of stressor or dysfunction. We have several supplement curations that help support other body systems (blood sugar, digestion, hormones, etc.) and by addressing those, the body can find its way back to its set point or preferred weight range (predetermined-by-genetics). Read more in this blog post about nutrition vs. weight loss.

Practice FAQ

We hope that you can make every effort to use all of your visits within the year as the sessions with our NTPs do not rollover if you renew your membership for the following year. If you have something come up and you know that you won’t be able to use all of your sessions, contact customer care to determine if placing your membership on hold is an option.

NTPs are holistic nutrition professionals trained to focus on the foundations of nutrition and our work is centered in these areas – a real-food diet, digestive health, blood sugar balance, fatty acid and mineral status, hydration, and stress management. Simply put, we help connect your symptoms with imbalances in the body and then we suggest the tools the body needs to heal itself. We also want to note what NTPs don’t do. It’s important to know that we don’t diagnose or treat diseases and we don’t prescribe medication. Learn more here.

An NTP can help you reach your health goals–from transitioning to a whole-foods lifestyle, to fine-tuning nutrition for your body, to supporting concerns like digestive symptoms, low energy levels, disrupted sleep, headaches, and many other symptoms in between. NTPs have a holistic approach where they aim to get to the root of your concerns with food, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations. Learn more about what an NTP does here.

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTPs or FNTPs) are holistic nutrition professionals trained to focus on the foundations of nutrition and their work is centered in these areas – a real-food diet, digestive health, blood sugar balance, fatty acid and mineral status, hydration, and stress management. They practice functional nutrition, meaning they look for the root cause of imbalances in the body, rather than simply addressing symptoms, and they take a bio-individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach with each client. NTPs don’t diagnose or treat diseases and they don’t prescribe medication.

NTPs are not licensed, however they complete a rigorous training and earn a certificate from the Nutritional Therapy Association, and graduates of the program are invited to sit for a national board exam to become Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition®.

Dieticians are licensed and the tightly regulated designation requires a BS or MS in nutrition and an internship in dietetics. Many dieticians practice with an emphasis on the USDA’s MyPlate nutrition guidelines and they commonly work in food service or hospital and other healthcare settings.

Other nutrition professionals like certified nutritionists, certified clinical nutritionists and a couple others that use the broader title of nutritionist have varying degrees of education and a wide range of approaches. Many work in private practice, education and the food and supplement industries.

A Health Coach commonly walks clients through diet and lifestyle changes, but the title is largely unregulated and doesn’t require any special training.

Learn more about NTPs here.

Congratulations!  You are ready to take the next step in your wellness journey and we are here to support you. Click here to book a virtual appointment with one of our staff NTPs.

You can cancel or reschedule a session anytime via our online client portal, Practice Better. If you do need to cancel/postpone an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours before your session. Cancelling within 24 hours will result in a late cancellation fee of $50 automatically charged to you. To postpone an appointment, you will need to cancel the original appointment and book a new one. If you fail to cancel your scheduled appointment and do not show, you will be charged the full value of the missed appointment.

Prior to your session, you will need to fill out and submit the forms that are sent to you electronically via email from our client management system, Practice Better. Please complete these forms at your earliest convenience to the best of your ability. Since we'll discuss them in your session, please return at least 48 hours prior to our appointment. Contact Customer Care if you did not receive access to Practice Better or did not receive the forms.

After your session, your NTP will send you personalized nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted supplement recommendations that align with your health goals. Within your recommendations you’ll find links to the suggested products in the Curated Wellness shop where you can easily add them to your cart for purchase. Your NTP will follow-up with you to schedule your next appointment.

Sessions with one of our Nutritional Therapy Practitioners run from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Your initial session will usually run the full 60 minutes and follow ups are around 45 minutes.

If you are taking any medication or supplement prescribed by your doctor, we won’t recommend you stop doing so. You’ll need to discuss with your medical prescriber. We also recommend you talk to your doctor about any medications you are taking and the potential for interactions or contraindications with any supplements you are taking.

Unfortunately Nutritional Therapy sessions are not covered by medical insurance because FNTPS and NTPS are not licensed medical providers. While there are benefits to this model, without the overhead costs associated with billing insurance, we are able to keep our sessions more affordable.

Qualified purchases from Curated Wellness and Curated Wellness may be eligible for reimbursement by your HSA or FSA depending on your plan’s policy. Check with your plan administrator for more details.

While your visits do not roll over from year to year, we feel that 12 months is an adequate amount of time to use all of your Curated Wellness and we want you to be motivated to do so. Please contact us if you have any questions.

We ask that you fill out a food journal because we’d like for you to track what and when you eat and drink, and notice how you feel afterwards on a real day. Our goal is to help you connect the dots between your food and beverages and how you feel and function. We don’t judge or criticize your choices. Actually, it’s quite the opposite, we suggest you do not try to eat “perfectly” on the days you record. Sometimes we learn the most from tracking our less-than-ideal eating days.

All recommended supplements and curations are sold separately from your nutritional therapy sessions and are available for all members to purchase in our shop on curatedwellness.com. Members receive 20% off all products in the shop, free shipping on orders over $50 and additional specials from time to time.

All of our client sessions are conducted via Zoom. When you book a session with us you will receive a calendar invite via email with a link to the Zoom session. Please make sure you have a reasonable internet connection and access to Zoom ahead of your session as we will start promptly at your scheduled time.

We require a minimum of 3 days in advance to book appointments. The reason being that we require all forms to be completed 48 hours prior to your session. This gives you at least one day to fill out your forms and allows our practitioners to review them before you meet. As a reminder, we do not treat or diagnose at Curated Wellness. If you have a medical emergency, seek in-person emergency care immediately or dial 911.

At Curated, we don’t focus on weight loss specifically. Instead we approach weight management from a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach, meaning there is no-one-size-fits-all healthy weight. Because weight imbalances are a symptom of other systems being out of sync, our practitioners focus more on the foundational root causes of unwanted weight changes. They’ll provide clients with the tools to help the body balance itself. With the right macronutrient balance, stress management, and nutrient support, the body can find its way back to its natural, preferred weight range. Read more in this blog post about nutrition vs. weight loss.

At this time, our practitioners are not seeing minors. We are only seeing adults 18 and older. We hope to be able to accept children into our practice at a later date.
